The Faithfulness of a Light Fixture

As we celebrate another Christmas, I would like to draw your attention to a hanging light fixture; not to the fixture itself but to the attachment it has to the ceiling!
Mr. Rideout, my son, Silas, and myself were recently changing out the lightbulbs in all of the light fixtures in the main auditorium of South Charlotte. As I was standing atop a 12 foot ladder, which was placed on top of a wooden platform, which was placed on top of the pews, I began to think how that those lights had been hanging from the ceiling since their installation at the end of 2000 or beginning of 2001. As I thought about that, my mind immediately thought about faithfulness; not of the light fixture but of how the light fixture was attached to the ceiling. For the past 25 years, I seriously doubt that any of us have thought at all about the faithfullness of those light fixtures and their attachment to the ceiling. To my knowledge, no one has, in the past 25 years, walked into the Scott Auditorium of South Charlotte Baptist Church and thought, "I wonder if the light fixtures are going to hold? I need to be cautious and not sit under any of the light fixtures because they could, at any moment, fall on my head!" I know that all of us are very thankful, not only for the light which those light fixtures produce, but also for the fact that they have stayed faithfully attached to the ceiling for all of these years! (Yes, realize that my mind thinks very strangely at times! Please forgive me for that!)
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (John 1:6-12)
At Christmas, we celebrate the Light of world which is Jesus Christ Who came to this earth so that we might have forgiveness of sins and enjoy the gift of eternal life. (Romans 6:23b)
And, so we should...
However, we must also not forget the faithfulness of God which led to the birth of Jesus Christ.
At mankind's darkest hour, recorded for us in Genesis chapter 3, when Adam and Eve sinned which brought death upon all of mankind (Romans 5:12), God made a promise:
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Genesis 3:15)
Thousands of years later, during a very dark hour in Judah, God said:
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)
Then, on the first Christmas night, Jesus Christ was born to take away the sins of the world (John 1:29), a fulfillment of the promise of God; a result of the faithfulness of God!
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Galatians 4:4-5)
As you celebrate Christmas I certainly want you to rejoice in the Light of world which is Jesus Christ but I also want you to rejoice in the faithfulness of God which led Him to send Jesus Christ to this earth.
Remember:
It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
