Sing Unto the Lord

“I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.” Psalm 104:33
During our recent Rejoice Sunday, our congregation met in the Faulk Fellowship Hall. Since we don't have a piano in that location, we sang hymns using "canned" music, recordings of a pianist playing hymns such as Come, Christian, Join to Sing and Trust and Obey.
After the service, I had a church member come to me, excited about the singing we had done and asking how they could do the same in their own home.
As I thought about it, I realized that others might be interested in doing the same in their home so I decided to place the information on my blog for everyone.
#1: You'll need a hymnal.
Although, during our service, we had used a computer program to place the words of the hymns on a large screen tv, you don't need that. All you need is a hymnal (or two). There are a number of hymnals that I can recommend:
The Bible Truth Hymnal (This is the hymnal that we use at South Charlotte Baptist Church.)
#2: You need an accompanist.
You may not have a pianist in your family and you may not want to simply sing acapella. So, what do you do? You can purchase MP3 files of pianists playing the hymns. You can also find, on such music services as Apple Music, pianists playing the hymns. You can use these things to sing in your home or anywhere you would like to.
That's all you need to have your own "hymn sing" in the privacy of your home or vehicle!
Allow me to give you an example: South Charlotte Baptist Church does not have a pianist for our youth group meetings. However, we still like to sing. We will use the Wilds songbook and their audio CD's to be able to have singing, with accompaniment, in our youth group meetings.
