Read Luke 2:8-11 . Notice the phrase, in verse 9: the glory of the Lord shone round about them . That phrase means to shine all around or to be surrounded with light. The only other time that that phrase is used in the New Testament is in Acts chapter 26, when Paul was sharing his salvation testimony with King Agrippa: At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. - Acts 26:13
